Cover Reveal: Sea in My Cells

First, there was Sun in My Tummy. Now get ready for Sea in My Cells!

Illustrator Andrea Blinick and I have teamed up again with our particular blend of nature, science, and a splash of whimsy! Sea in My Cells sweeps children up into the journey of water as it shape-shifts its way from clouds, to rain, to seas, lakes, and rivers, and that refreshing glass on a hot day.

Editor Erin Alladin once referred to Sun in My Tummy as “the best book about photosynthesis that doesn’t use the word photosynthesis.” In a similar way, Sea in My Cells is a rollicking account of the water cycle which does not actually use the phrase “water cycle.”

The science is still there, along with a deep sense of belonging to and being part of these natural cycles (I never thought I would use the word “pee” in a picture book, but this one called for it and Andrea’s illustration made me laugh out loud). My hope is that this book will give children a sense that they are not just spectators. The path water takes on its travels runs right through their bodies!

I’m thrilled that Sea in My Cells is part of the Pajama Press Spring 2025 List. If you preorder it now it will be in the mail to you in May, in time for rainy days, puddle jumping, and other watery pleasures of spring.
